Basingstoke’s MP, Maria Miller has welcomed the latest figures released by Office of National Statistics that show levels of unemployment have fallen in Basingstoke. This month's figures show 679 people in Basingstoke claimed Job Seeker’s Allowance in April 2016, remaining one of the lowest levels of unemployment in the country.
The number of claimants in Basingstoke represent 1.1% of the economically active population in the area, compared to the national average of 2.5%.
Maria said, “Basingstoke continues to have one of the lowest unemployment levels in the country. I welcome the figures published today, more people in work means more security for families in Basingstoke."
