Maria Miller MP welcomed new figures showing a fall in in unemployment both nationally and in Basingstoke. Maria Commented ”This means that both nationally and here in Basingstoke we have more people in work, with the security of a good job and a regular pay packet so they can provide for themselves and their families.” “This Government is committed to achieving full employment, so everyone who wants to work can have the security of a regular income. It is the best route out of poverty, and getting more good jobs across the UK means we can renew our country as a place where people who work hard and do the right thing are able to get on/“‘It is excellent news that since the last Labour government in 2010, 1400 fewer people are unemployed here in Basingstoke – that’s more families with the stability and security of a regular income. ‘This is thanks to the hard work and the determination of people here in Basingstoke, and the Government’s clear economic plan, which is committed to building a Britain that offers working people security at every stage of their life.’ Here in Basingstoke, we are also committed to getting more people with learning disabilities into work. Only one in ten people with a learning disability is in work in Hampshire. The Basingstoke Inclusion Zone initiative which we launched this year aims to redress this.”
