Local MP, Maria Miller has welcomed the announcement that EE has just switched on more 4G close to the main train station at Basingstoke.
Switching on 4G involves upgrading equipment on masts necessitating a short outage of coverage while the equipment is swapped in. Once back on line, customers can access much faster speeds from 4G enabled devices.
Maria said “I welcome EE’s work to improve mobile phone coverage in Basingstoke, which shows business confidence in our part of Hampshire . More constituents and more local businesses will now be able to benefit from speeds offered by 4G."
EE is investing £2bn in extending coverage further over the next three years with the target to cover 98% of the population by the end of this year and 95% of UK geography by 2020.
