Local MP Maria Miller called in at a number of events around the town organised as part of Basingstoke Green Week, running from 21 to 30 September.
Maria was pleased to support the Greenfingers Autumn Sale of plants and other garden items at the Elizabeth Road allotments, organised by Mencap.
She also visited The Men’s Shed, at Stratton Park, where she heard about its importance as a place where men can meet to pursue practical skills and enjoy making and mending, and also socialise and make friends.
Maria also enjoyed visiting the Longdog Brewery on the Moniton Trading estate to meet husband and wife team Phil and Lisa Robins again, and taste their locally brewed beers.
Maria said: “This year’s Basingstoke Green Week – now in its seventh year - has been amazing, with a fantastic range of events and activities, catering for all interests and age groups. It is really inspiring to see how many community groups and individuals across Basingstoke are keen to get involved with showcasing all the good work going on, including local products and services. Basingstoke Green Week is going from strength to strength.”
