To mark the 70th birthday of the NHS this year, Basingstoke MP Maria Miller is asking local residents to help her find the local “NHS heroes” to put forward for prestigious Parliamentary Awards.
The NHS70 Parliamentary Awards will take place in July, to celebrate the work of dedicated NHS staff, as well as the many volunteers, charities and communities that support the service. There are 10 categories of award, covering key areas such as primary care, mental health and cancer care, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Maria said: “The NHS is one of the nation’s most loved institutions, and it is right that we take the opportunity of its 70th birthday to recognise and thank the extraordinary people – the everyday ‘health and care heroes’ – who are there to support and care for us, day in, day out.”
“I know that there are many examples of excellent care and practice benefiting local people, and I would urge those working with and for health and care organisations in Basingstoke to send me further examples they think deserve national recognition.”
More information about the awards and the nomination process is available on the website www.nhs70awards.co.uk.
This includes the criteria for each category, and a template letter which should be used to submit nominations.
Nominations should be sent to Maria by email to maria.miller.mp@parliament.uk, or by post to the House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA, to reach her by Friday 16 March.
