Thursday 25 November 2021, is Carers Rights Day, and Maria is keen to ensure that unpaid carers in Basingstoke have access to any support, advice and information that they might need.
Maria said: “Providing unpaid care for a family member or friend can present all kinds of challenges, from filling in forms, to providing personal care, to coping with the emotional pressures caring brings. The last 20 months have been especially difficult for many carers. We must ensure that carers are aware of their rights and know where they can get help and support.
Carers might be new to caring and navigating the available services, or they may need extra support to cope with the pressures of caring. Whatever the issue at hand, having the right information at the right time can make a huge difference for the carer and the person they care for. That’s why, with Carers Rights Day taking place on the 25 November 2021, I wanted to highlight the available advice and information resources that have been created by Carers UK. These include a range of issues, from financial support, COVID-19, balancing work and care, and supporting carers to take a break. And of course, if I can be of any specific assistance with a constituent’s case, do not hesitate to contact me directly.”
