Maria Miller local MP for Basingstoke was delighted to present students at Costello School with the Young Enterprise Award at a Trade Fair on Saturday. The school was one of twenty student businesses from around North Hampshire participating in a trade stall event in Top of Town this weekend.
Maria said, " Small businesses are the life blood of our town and encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs could not be more important. I was particularly impressed with the ingenuity of the students and the commitment shown in marketing their products on a bitterly cold day. Young Enterprise give thousands of young people a unique opportunity to learn about what makes a good business and the skills needed to make it a success."
Young Enterprise works with more than 250 000 young people each year helping them to understand how business works and to have fun running their own enterprise. They help prepare young people for life in modern Britain.
