Basingstoke MP Maria Miller recently visited Oakridge Junior School. The Year 5 pupils had invited her to take part in a Question and Answer session as part of the work they are doing on democracy and government.
Maria spent an hour answering questions from the pupils on a wide range of issues, including the role of an MP, how Parliament works, and the origins of Parliament.
Maria said: “I very much enjoyed this session with the pupils in year 5, who had lots of questions, and a great deal of enthusiasm. I will look forward to seeing them in Westminster next year on the Parliamentary education programme. “
“I was also glad to be able to ask them about their ideas for making Basingstoke an even better place to live and was interested in their concerns about road safety, litter and graffiti."
