Basingstoke MP Maria Miller joined other guests at the recent official opening of Basingstoke’s new fire station, built on the site of the old 1960’s fire station at West Ham. Hampshire’s Chief Fire Office Neil Odin welcomed the guests, along with Basingstoke Station Manager Keith Jones and many other members of the Basingstoke firefighting team.
Maria said: “This is a state of the art fire station which will be of huge benefit, not only to Basingstoke residents but also in Hampshire more widely, and will help to keep us all safe. It is also great news that the facilities will also be made available for community use.”
“This new £6 million facility is another example of the huge investment we have seen in the town in recent years. With high levels of house building it is really important that we are also seeing the investment in infrastructure and public services that needs to go alongside that growth.”
