Maria was delighted to join residents at VIVID’s Abbey Court Extra Care Scheme in Popley, Basingstoke, for a ‘street party’ to celebrate Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The event, which was organised by volunteer Phil Lloyd, secretary of Abbey Court Golden Group Committee and was attended by the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr Onnalee Cubitt, High Sheriff of Hampshire, Lady Louisa Portal, and children and staff from Cornerstone Miss Muffet nursery
Maria said, ‘’ The street party was a huge success, and I was really pleased to join in the celebrations at Abbey Court. Residents at Abbey Court have had a difficult two years and it was brilliant to see the community coming together not only to pay tribute to the Queen for her 70 years of public service but to also thank the carers, caterers and care home staff who have provided tireless support during the Covid pandemic.
I applaud all the work done by Phil Lloyd and his team to organising this fantastic event.’’
