Winter brings additional challenges for many older people; increased heating and lighting bills can strain finances; bad weather and dark nights can make it difficult for people to get out and about; while cold temperatures and seasonal illnesses kill (affect?) thousands of older people every year. Many have told Age UK they are deeply anxious about coping with the threat of coronavirus and the challenges of social distancing.
Maria said “On top of additional challenges for older constituents in winter months, the pandemic and resulting restrictions have had a huge impact on older people’s health and wellbeing. Age UK has fantastic resources in their Winter Hub providing information on looking after your wellbeing, how to get support, and ways to help each other this winter. We can all help older residents stay well this winter by sharing Age UK’s advice.”
