Basingstoke’s MP Maria Miller and a number of other MPs from all political parties have signed the 1984 Sikh Genocide Remembrance Book in Parliament to commemorate the thousands of members of the Sikh faith who lost their lives in the Golden Temple Massacre in 1984.
On Sunday 10 June thousands of Sikhs marched through central London to commemorate the 1984 Golden Temple Massacre which saw thousands of Sikhs murdered, with many more beaten and raped over the following three days. This was the catalyst for a series of events that culminated in the murder of over 25,000 Sikhs across the country.
Maria said “It is important to commemorate and remember the thousands of members of the Sikh faith who lost their lives in the Golden Temple Massacre in 1984.”
