Local MP supports decision to protect Community Transport and School Crossing Patrols
Hampshire County Council’s “Balancing the Budget Consultation” sought residents’ and stakeholders’ views on high level, strategic options for balancing its budget, including changes to Community Transport and School Crossing Patrols funding.
Maria Miller raised her concerns about the proposals directly with Hampshire County Leader, Roy Perry at a recent meeting and highlighted the grave concerns expressed to her by Basingstoke residents who have a disability.
Following Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet meeting on 11 December, Maria Miller has welcomed the decision to scrap proposals to reduce funding for Community Transport and School Crossing Patrols.
Maria said, “I welcome the decision by Hampshire County Council Cabinet to protect Community Transport and School Crossing Patrols. Our local community relies on these important services and I am pleased that there will be no reductions in expenditure to both of these services in the Transformation to 2019 plans.”
