In response to the Coronavirus, Covid-19, the Government announced support for small businesses, and businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors. This support will take the form of two grant funding schemes, the Small Business Grant Fund and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund. The schemes are being delivered by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The council is directly contacting eligible businesses by post or email, depending on how their business rates bill is usually sent, inviting them to provide the necessary information through an online form on the council’s website.
Maria Miller said “I am pleased that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has already started to send out application forms for the grants announced by the government, providing much needed financial support during Coronavirus outbreak. I urge all eligible businesses to apply.
“Based on the MHCLG guidance organisations who will benefit include charity shops, museums, galleries, historic houses, sport charity facilities, theatres, public halls, and clubhouses.”
Grants of £10,000 are available for businesses with a rateable value of up to £15,000 that are eligible for small business rates relief. Grants of £25,000 are available for retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000.
