MP Maria Miller congratulates the Vyne Community School for setting up their first Satellite Club with funding from Sport Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Following encouragement from Maria, the school has managed to secure a sum of £3830 to set up a Satellite Club for the students. The Vyne is now running a table tennis club every Tuesday after school and already have a regular group of students attending.
Maria said “It is great news that the school have decided to take part in the satellite club scheme.
The clubs are run by dedicated professionals who are committed to young people being given the chance to try a wide variety of sports that might otherwise be unavailable to them.
This programme is part of a broader scheme to try to reverse that trend of young women dropping out of sport in their teenage years and to get us all more active.”
