Maria Miller MP for Basingstoke has today hosted a conference with Working Families and Bright Horizons on support for working families and the issues to be addressed at the forthcoming General Election.
Speaking after the conference Maria said, " The reality is that many parents work. It is my experience in Basingstoke that good employers understand the importance of supporting their employees to get the right balance between work and family responsibilities.
Flexible working can often make the difference between a parent being able to work or not. I have worked with 'Working Families' in the past to identify how more employers could be encouraged to understand the importance of flexible working.
'Happy to talk flexible working' is a campaign that has been created as a result of that work, it is supported by the Government and employers. The campaign encourages employers to think about the design of a job and consider advertising jobs on a flexible work basis to attract more applicants.
