Maria Miller MP praised Basingstoke and District Disability Forum’s (BDDF) signposting service’s new information literature. She met with Pamela Heyfron from BDDF who runs the monthly signpost service at the Discovery Centre.
The Disability Signpost Service is a mobile information service that aims to make information easily accessible to disabled people, their friends and family. The Signpost Service is held on the first Tuesday of the month in the Discovery Centre in Basingstoke between 10am and 1pm. Information is available on a wide range of topics including benefits, housing, and equipment. The Service is run by volunteers who may have a disability themselves and so understand the importance of having up to date information about where to go for help and advice.
Maria commented “The signpost sessions are an incredibly valuable resource for people with disabilities and their carers. It is not always easy to find the right place to go for advice and information and many people are often left feeling alone and isolated. The Disability Signpost Service is a mobile information service that aims to make information easily accessible to disabled people. Pamela and her team have a wealth of knowledge and experience and offer an excellent local service. The new literature is very user friendly. The guide to coffee mornings and reasonably priced lunches is also a very welcome addition. ”
