Basingstoke MP Maria Miller was briefed recently by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service on the additional work they have been doing on the safety of high rise buildings.
Maria met Rob Cole, Head of Community Safety and Nigel Cooper, Group Manager, for an update. Following the appalling fire in Grenfell Tower, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has undertaken to visit every high rise building in Hampshire and distribute additional fire safety advice to all residents.
Maria said: “I was very pleased to hear about the additional safety work that Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service is taking forward, particularly following the horrific fire at Grenfell Tower. The Fire Service is now offering “Safe and Well” visits to all residents of high rise buildings. I would encourage anyone who has concerns about fire safety to contact the Fire Service for advice, and look at their website.”
“The Fire Service told me about the Local Resilience Forum Working Group which they lead, and which is ensuring that fire safety is at the top of everyone’s agenda, including local authority chief executives.”
