Maria Miller MP visited Basingstoke Counselling Service( BCS) and met with Head of training Julia Charlesworth and trustees. Basingstoke Counselling Service, a member of the National Counselling Network, is an independent charity operating since 1985. BCS offers one-to-one and couples counselling for adults, the team of counsellors provide a professional and affordable service and help with a wide range of problems through periods of distress or difficulty. The centre also offers counsellor training and professional development.
Maria commented, “It was very good to meet the team at Basingstoke Counselling Service and discuss the services they offer. One in four people in the UK experience a mental health problem each year and the demand for counselling services is growing. The counsellors at BCS work on a voluntary basis and I was struck by the dedication of the team in supporting people struggling with mental health issues.”
