Basingstoke MP Maria Miller has welcomed the announcement of £4 million of extra funding from Government to help the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust increase capacity in A & E over the forthcoming winter.
The funding will enable improvement works to be carried out in the Emergency Department at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital to increase capacity, and also in the surgical assessment unit and paediatric assessment unit, which will all help with the flow through the winter.
Maria said: “I am very pleased that the NHS has identified a scheme to help with the pressures which we know the hospital will face. I look forward to hearing further detail about how they intend to use the extra Government funding to help them deliver the best possible care for patients this winter.”
