Maria Miller was welcomed at Fujitsu’s Basingstoke base on Friday 24 April by Tim Gibson, Vice President Defence and National Security. Maria was visiting to present Fujitsu with a certificate as Basingstoke Responsible Business Champion 2015, and took place during Responsible Business Week. Fujitsu have also been shortlisted for the National Responsible Business Champion award by the All-Party Parliamentary Corporate Responsibility Group (APCRG). The name of the winning company will be announced after the General Election. Maria said: “I am delighted that Fujitsu has been shortlisted and very much hope that they will chosen as the National Champion. It was great to meet the team again at their offices in Jays Close, and hear more about some of the fantastic contribution they make to the local community, both through Business in the Community and the strong support they give to the Armed Forces.” Maria added: “Another important way in which Fujitsu has demonstrated its corporate social responsibility is in signing up to the Basingstoke Inclusion Zone (BIZ). This is a way for local employers to show their commitment to supporting people with learning disabilities have the opportunity to get into work.”
