Basingstoke MP Maria Miller visited the Foodbank for an update on recent developments and to thank volunteers.
Maria met Assistant Operations Manager, Paul Gross and volunteers.
Maria commented; “The Foodbank volunteers have worked hard to support so many people in Basingstoke this year. They deserve all our thanks. There has been a significant increase in the number of people approaching the Food Bank for help during the pandemic and the centre has more than risen to the challenge. The Food Bank has also provided follow up support for those seeking help, signposting them to other support services and checking that they are coping.”
“During the pandemic local businesses and organisations increased donations and provided support with deliveries. Local schools are also supporting through Harvest Festival collections. The generosity of people in Basingstoke is extraordinary, donating financially, practically and giving their time to support others. A huge thank you to Paula Vallance who runs the Foodbank, Paul and volunteers for all they do to support the vulnerable in our community.”
Paul Gross Commented; “We really value our volunteers and all they do. It is a privilege to serve those who are struggling in our community.”
