Basingstoke MP Maria Miller met Basingstoke rail commuters, to hear their concerns about poor performance on the railway network, particularly between Basingstoke and London Waterloo.
Maria invited representatives from South Western Railways and Network Rail to meet Basingstoke passengers to hear their concerns, but they were not able to attend. A further meeting is being arranged in the New Year, to enable Basingstoke commuters to make their points directly to SWR and Network Rail.
Maria said: “Many of my constituents who regularly travel by rail are fed up with the performance of the trains on the mainline to London, and level of customer service when things go wrong. I thought it was important to invite the two companies responsible to hear their customers’ views directly and it was disappointing that they did not attend. In their absence we had a detailed discussion of the problems with reliability of the rail service. I have asked for a new meeting date in January.”
