Local MP Maria Miller met with Minister of State for Policing, Nick Hurd to underline the importance of support for frontline Policing in tackling concerns in Basingstoke.
Maria said, "In Hampshire we have one of the best Police forces in the country which makes good use of the resources it receives to deter and detect crime. What residents tell me is that they want reassurance that the right support is available for frontline Policing in Basingstoke following a spate of concerning crime, including antisocial behaviour and attacks."
"Basingstoke Police have tackled these problems successfully in the past. It's important that frontline Policing resources are available and focussed on tackling crime, to keep our town a safe and welcoming place to visit."
"The Police need to make sure frontline Policing is a clear priority in the north of the county so we have the officers to detect crimes and send a clear message that Basingstoke doesn't tolerate criminal behaviour."
