Basingstoke MP Maria Miller was pleased to call in at Queen Mary’s College on Friday 27 September when the College hosted a training session for the Head girls and Head boys from local secondary schools. The aim of theevent was to help the students to develop their skills and confidence, and also give them an opportunity to network with their counterparts across the town and wider area.
Maria was invited to talk to the students about the skills needed for success, and spoke to them about the importance of listening to people, working with their teams, and bringing everyone along with them. Maria then answered questions from the students, about her experiences working in business as well as in Parliament.
Maria said: “I thought this was a great initiative by QMC in bringing the student leaders from all the secondary schools together, and giving them the opportunity to develop their skills in this way. The students had lots of questions, and it was also really interesting to hear their views on how we could make Basingstoke an even better place to live, study and work.”
