Basingstoke MP Maria Miller has visited the South Central Ambulance Service’s offices at Otterbourne, near Winchester, for an update on the Ambulance Service’s operations, and to meet staff in the Control Room handling emergency and other calls.
Maria was briefed on current developments by the SCAS Chairman Trevor Jones, Director of Operations Mark Ainsworth and Area Manager Kirsten Willis. She was also shown around the Control Room and met members of the teams responding to 999 and 111 calls, as well the Patient Transport Service.
Maria also had the opportunity to observe staff as they responded to calls and co-ordinated the dispatch of ambulances.
Maria said: “I was very pleased to meet some of the great team at the South Central Ambulance Service Operations Centre and see at first hand the fantastic work they do to ensure that people in Basingstoke and across our region can access emergency care when they need it, as well as to get less urgent medical assistance by telephone.”
“I have met with South Central Ambulance Service on many occasions and am always impressed by their professionalism and commitment. I would like to thank them for all they do for our local community.”
