Local MP Maria Miller has welcomed new figures released by the Office of National Statistics showing that the number of unemployed claimants in Basingstoke fell in September 2017 to 820, 5 lower than in the previous month. This represents 1.3% of the economically active population in the area, compared to a national average of 2.5%.
Maria said: “It is good news that Basingstoke continues to have one of the lowest levels of unemployment in the country. With such a high rate of employment in the town, it is particularly important that all Basingstoke residents who are looking for work get the expert help they need to find a job.”
