More than 40% fall in Unemployment in Basingstoke

Local MP Maria Miller has welcomed employment figures published today which show that Basingstoke unemployment has fallen by more than 40% in the last year and is now the lowest for a decade. 642 people claimed Job Seekers Allowance in December 2014 down by 49 compared with November 2014 and down by 485 compared with December 2013.  

Tesco Withdraws Plans for Brighton Hill

Tesco has announced that it will not continue with its controversial plans to build a new supermarket next to Brighton Hill roundabout in Basingstoke.

Accident and Emergency

Maria Miller MP has today voiced her support for staff at who are coping with increased numbers using Accident and Emergency at Basingstoke Hospital. The number of people seeking emergency care at Hampshire Hospital Foundation Trust hospitals went up more than 11% over Christmas and 15% over the New Year compared with the same period last year. 

MP Welcomes Hampshire County Council Rail Summit
