Maria Miller facilitated a meeting between Anthony Bravo, the Principal of the Basingstoke College of Technology and Gillian Keegan, the Education Secretary to discuss concerns regarding the transition to T levels.
Maria said,
‘’Following concerns raised with me by Anthony Bravo about the transitional arrangements from BTECs to T levels, I arranged for a joint meeting with the Education Secretary, Gillian Keegan. Everyone in the meeting was in agreement that the problem does not concern the measures set out in the education reforms or the introduction of T levels, but rather the timings involved in these changes.
It was clear from the discussion that teaching colleges such as BCoT need to have sufficient time to implement changes and I am pleased that the Department for Education have agreed to work with BCoT to look in granular detail at the pathways available to all students to ensure a smooth transition to T levels.’’
