Local MP, Maria Miller attended the wonderful World Party, which has been held in Eastrop Park since 2010.
The World Party, which celebrates the culture of many countries and sees families from various communities, local businesses and local charities coming together to promote social cohesion through art, culture and cuisine.
The day’s celebrations included live music and dance from around the world with international and local performers, colourful children’s parade, craft and manga workshops, sports, dance, drama and music taster sessions, street artists, puppets, facepainting, world zoo and exotic food.
Maria said “TheWorld Party once again brought together Basingstoke residents to celebrate our cultural diversity: American, Indian, Nepali and Philippine flags demonstrated the rich mix of people who live in North Hampshire. I met local residents with Polish, German, Turkish and Irish ancestry enjoying entertainment from across the globe. I was delighted to join the celebrations.”
