Maria Miller MP recently visited Manor Field Infant and Junior schools to catch-up with pupils and teachers.
Maria said, “I want all schools in Basingstoke to be ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’, so that they can help offer children the best start in life.
“Both Manor Field infant and junior schools have ‘Good’ Ofsteds and strive to be at the heart of the community that they serve.
“The infant school provides wrap around care with a breakfast club and a variety of after school options. With an attendance level of 96% and attainment in reading, writing and mathematics above the national average the schools raise the aspirations of all pupils”.
Maria took time to meet some of the schools’ pupils who spoke about what was great about Basingstoke and what they’d like to see more of.
Maria added, “Junior school pupils told me they love Basingstoke: its easy to get around and the people are nice! Graffiti, litter, and plastic in the oceans were their main concerns as well as protecting the bees and our green spaces and slowing down the number of houses built locally”.
