Local MP, Maria Miller, welcomed Arts Council England’s announcement of £1,234,104 over the next three years for Basingstoke arts organisations.
Maria said: “I’m absolutely thrilled at this major announcement and demonstration of support for our fantastic arts organisations in Basingstoke, which helps provide financial security as they plan ahead with their cultural programmes and events.
“Basingstoke has a rich cultural and creative history and we are blessed to be the home of award-winning arts organisations, such as world leading concert hall The Anvil, and national theatre and dance performance groups like Proteus, and Kala the Arts who have just hosted a spectacular Diwali parade. All will be supported by this additional Arts Council funding, totalling £411,306 investment per year for three years. This brings further growth and creative opportunities to our town, and I can’t wait to see all the inventive artistry they will produce in the years ahead.”
