Questions ranged from why they had first considered standing for office and how much time commitment was required to take up the role.
Maria commented, “The event was aimed at encouraging more women to come forward to speak for their community. School Governors, Parish and Borough councillors all play a significant role in representing our community and it is vital that more women consider the opportunities that these roles can offer. The speakers shared their own journeys and encouraged others to make sure more women’s voices are heard in our community. The community is a stronger place when it has good broad representation in these key roles. “
