Basingstoke's MP Maria Miller has welcomed news that local schools, The Ashwood Academy and Queen's Mary's College have successfully bid for Government Condition Improvement (CIF) to ensure that school buildings are safe and in good working order.
Ashwood Academy will use the funds to replace temporary buildings and Queen Mary College will use the funds to fix roofs and improve security.
Maria commented, “There is nothing more important than the education we give our children. This important investment from Government in QMC and Ashwood will help improve the school buildings to give students and pupils a better environment in which to learn. It is important that investment in local Basingstoke services keeps pace with building new homes. This important investment in Basingstoke Schools and Colleges to keep them in good working order for our growing population and follows more than £40million increasing the number of primary school places in the past few years.”
The Government announced almost £483 million for 1,466 projects across the country at 1,199 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools.
