Maria Miller encourages local diabetes patients to attend a free foot care education workshop in Basingstoke to tackle the high rate of diabetes related amputations in Hampshire, as part of its Diabetes UK’s Putting Feet First campaign.
The workshop is set to take place at The Ark Conference Centre on Tuesday 9th June, running from 11am to 3.30pm.
Maria said “I was shocked to hear that in our area 2.7 per 1,000 adults with diabetes experience an amputation per year, which is above the national average of 2.6. It is clear that more needs to be done to ensure that people living with diabetes in our area know how to take care of their feet which is why I am pleased to be supporting the workshop taking place on 9 June. I’d urge anyone looking for advice to come along and hear from the experts.”
Residents are reminded that space is limited at the event, and therefore booking is essential.
