Basingstoke's MP Maria Miller took part in a Q&A session with the Costello School Pupils.
Different year groups took part in the session which was hosted by the Headteacher Randal Jull. Pupils questioned Maria about what it is like to be an MP and spoke about various topics including Brexit, lockdown, the economy and mental health.
Maria commented; “The Costello pupils had an incredible grasp on national and local issues that affect young people. It was interesting to learn how important mental health is, a key topic for discussion as a result of the pandemic and the lockdown. Teachers have played a key role in ensuring that pupils in Basingstoke have continued to learn in different settings and adapt to new processes put in place during the pandemic. Pupils at Costello demonstrated a tremendous resilience to adapting to a new way of learning and living. I am also keen to engage further with young people in the Borough on what it is they think would further enhance life in Basingstoke.”
