Basingstoke MP Maria Miller recently called in at Aldworth School as part of her programme of regular visits to Basingstoke schools.
Maria had a meeting with the Headteacher Denis McCabe, to catch up on latest developments at the school, including the summer GCSE results and progress towards achieving Good at the next Ofsted inspection. Maria was pleased to meet the students who were receiving their certificates for the “Book of Excellence”, which is a weekly reward scheme recognising students who have produced work of a very high quality.
Maria also had a meeting with the School Council where she and the students discussed a wide range of issues, including light and air pollution, online safety, and democracy and Parliament.
Maria said: “I was very pleased to visit Aldworth School again, and to meet the Headteacher and some of the students. I am always keen to hear students’ views on things that matter to them and the students at Aldworth had some really interesting ideas and perspectives.”
