Local MP, Maria Miller, visited Inspero’s Community Garden as a part of the Borough’s Green Week.
Maria said: “Protecting our beloved natural environment is a key priority for residents in Basingstoke. That is why it’s great to see so many dedicated activities being organised this week to shine a light on the positive action being done locally to help protect our environment. I was delighted to take part, as well as catch up with local community groups such as Inspero, who are a fantastic local charity. Through their work with young people, those with special needs and the older generation, they positively promote a better understanding about food and urge healthy food choices all while encouraging a sustainable environmental approach.”
"I would like to warmly congratulate Inspero on winning four awards at this year’s South East in Bloom Awards. In particular, their achievement on winning the ‘Our Community’ category, this is a true reflection of all the fantastic work Inspero are doing to promote environmental awareness in our local community.”
Catherine Waters-Clark, Inspero Founder and CEO commented: “We are really thrilled for the team as this was a very challenging year with the heat and lack of water. It has contributed to us rethinking our ways of working, preparing the soil more in the Autumn and Winter months and adapting the plants including fruit, vegetables and herbs that we grow at the community garden. The awards are a major achievement for our charity and all our wonderful volunteers.”
Inspero are always on the lookout for volunteers to assist them with their community gardens and other projects. More information about volunteering can be found on their website. For more information about Inspero, please visit:
