Local MP, Maria Miller has welcomed the Big Lottery Fund awards of £40,352 to 5 community projects in Basingstoke.
The funding will help the following organisations;
National Childbirth Trust – Basingstoke Branch - The organisation will continue weekly breastfeeding drop in activities offering evidence-based, impartial information and support for parents.
Home-Start North West Hampshire - The project will relocate their organisation to the local community centre where they can use shared resources and work collaboratively at a local hub.
The Vyne Community School - The project will create a reflection garden & horticultural activities area for students, staff and members of the community who have been affected by bereavement or are suffering anxiety/stress.
Tune for Life CIC - The project will provide 30 tailor-made interactive musical sessions for older people with dementia. A music festival will also be organised to bring the local community together.
Pelican - The project aims to raise awareness of specific cancers within the wider community by running events.
Maria said, “Local organisations provide invaluable support to our local community. I am delighted that this funding will enable local charities to offer even more services to and support Basingstoke constituents. I urge more local organsiations to apply for funding.”
