Basingstoke MP, Maria Miller, welcomed Sport England’s announcement of new emergency funding for community sport and physical activity facilities damaged by the recent storms.
Maria said: “Local sport organisations and facilities are an integral part of our community. The recent bad weather has caused significant damage and disruption, and I would encourage any local sports groups with affected facilities – such as clubhouses, courts, and pitches – to check whether they can apply for a grant from Sport England. These can be up to £15,000 and used to help repair storm damage so that you can get back to operating as soon as possible.”
The Storm Relief Fund is a part of Sport England’s wider Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Activity Fund, launched in January to help bring communities together and tackle inequalities through sport and physical activity.
