Local MP welcomed Hampshire Fire Station vaccination centre in Basingstoke, which went live earlier this week and is being run by the local NHS.
Maria said, “In Basingstoke we have worked hard to get the vaccine rollout moving as quickly as possible. The opening of the new Fire Station Vaccine Centre means even more people can be vaccinated every day. Thanks go to the local NHS who are running the centre with support from Basingstoke Council and an army of volunteers. People will receive invitations from the NHS in the post when it is their turn to have a vaccination and appointments can then be made online or by telephone.
“In Basingstoke we now have four centres providing coronavirus vaccinations to the priority groups, on an appointment only basis: by GPs in the Chineham Centre Court Hotel, at Superdrug, at the Fire Station and also at the Hospital for NHS staff. The focus remains on vaccinations the priority groups over 70 until mid February.”
AA signage directs people to the centre, parking at the leisure park, setting up of a permit system to stop people parking in West Ham Close and volunteers to help with the initial opening of the centre were all organised by the Borough Council.
