Basingstoke MP Maria Miller joined a host of senior representatives of local government, businesses and other organisations last week at an event organised by Destination Basingstoke, to celebrate Basingstoke as a great place to live and work. The event was held at the state of the art Sainsbury’s Distribution Centre in Houndsmill Road.
The event celebrated some of the recent major investments in the town with speakers including Darren Staniland from Sainsbury’s, Robin Mackenzie of De La Rue, Paul Friend of Face TV and Steven Connolly of Festival Place.
Maria said: “I was pleased to meet up with many of Destination Basingstoke’s “Ambassadors”, to celebrate the town’s success stories. Basingstoke has all the right ingredients to make businesses successful – location and communications, highly skilled local workforce and the infrastructure. Basingstoke continues to have one of the lowest unemployment levels in the country which shows business confidence in our part of Hampshire and I look forward to an exciting future."
