More than 100 QMC students on A level courses in Politics, Philosophy and History packed out the QMC Hall to listen to an update from Basingstoke MP Maria Miller on latest developments on Brexit, and to ask their own questions.
The issues raised by the students covered a broad spectrum, including about the Government’s negotiating position, what type of trade deals might be secured, the future of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and whether Brexit will impact on equalities and human rights.
Maria also stayed on after the session to talk on a one-to-one basis with some students who had further questions.
Maria said: “I had met with QMC politics students this time last year and was keen to do so again, to hear about their concerns as well as their hopes for the UK’s departure from the EU. It was fantastic to see so many students engaged with the debate this time, and there were some excellent questions.”
