Year 8 pupils questioned their MP on British Values taught in the curriculum and also talked about key values in Britain including The Queen, the weather and tea drinking.
Pupils also questioned Maria about being an MP and told her about the results of their School Referendum on membership of the EU.
Maria Commented; “It was wonderful to talk to pupils about British Values and their own personal aspirations. I was also very encouraged that students were also engaging in key issues such as the EU referendum. “
BBC News School Report gives 11-16 year-old students across the UK the opportunity to research and produce their own news reports for a real audience.
Last year, more than 1,000 schools across the UK took part in this project.
Using lesson plans and materials from this website, teachers help their pupils develop students' journalistic skills so they can report on the stories that matter to them and make their voices heard.
