Basingstoke MP Maria Miller recently visited the Vyne School, where she met the new Headteacher Nicola Pearce, who took up her role in January 2019. Maria heard from the Headteacher about her future plans for the School, and about latest developments.
Maria also met members of the School Council who talked to her about a wide range of issues of concern to them, including the importance of staying fit and healthy, and making sure that students were educated about the harm caused by drugs and smoking. They also talked about how to become “greener”, including through increasing recycling.
Maria said: “I was very pleased to visit the Vyne School again, and to meet Nicola Pearce, the new Headteacher. It was great to hear about her plans for the school, with a clear focus on teaching and learning, and academic achievement.”
“I was also really interested to meet members of the School Council, who told me about the issues around Basingstoke that concerned them, and discussed ways of tackling them. I was very impressed with the breadth of their interests and the mature way they approached the issues.”
