Maria Miller is re-elected as Chair of Parliament's newest permanent Select Committee
Maria Miller MP for Basingstoke has been re-elected as Chair of the Women and Equalities Select which has been made a permenant Select Committee of Parliament.
Speaking after the announcement Maria said, " Britain has some of the most comprehensive equalities laws in the world, yet, in our first two years work, the Women and Equalities Select Committee established that too many forms of discrimination are still commonplace in everyday life.
"It has never been more important than now to find ways to reduce the inequities that persist in our country. I will do everything I can to ensure that the Women and Equalities Select Committee sets its Agenda to root out inequality, provide practical solutions and to give a strong voice to those whose stories need to be heard by the individuals responsible for change."
Maria was elected as the first Chair of the committee in 2015 when it was established following recommendations made by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Women in Parliament and Prof Sarah Childs "Good Parliament' report.
