Basingstoke MP, Maria Miller, visited Audley’s Resource Service, alongside Cllr Liz Fairhurt, Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care. Audley’s provide a holistic support service for the wellbeing of adults with a range of care needs.
Maria said: “It was great to sit down with Service Manager, Tracy Carus, and her Deputy, Leah Johnson, and discuss how the centre has emerged from the pandemic and is now back to full operation. I was also very happy to speak to many service users about the important role Audley’s plays in providing them with not only care, but also social and creative outlets.”
“Basingstoke’s rapidly ageing population presents us with specific challenges in ensuring adequate housing and care support for the changing demographics of our town. We must make sure the new Local Plan has the right level of social care to support elderly residents, as well as specialist service provision for younger people who need it. New and different ways to help people to live independently for longer is an essential element of planning for the future, and Audley’s is playing its part in providing that key support.”
