Basingstoke MP, Maria Miller, welcomed the Borough Council’s announcement of grant funding for businesses to boost apprenticeships.
Maria said: “More and more SMEs are choosing Basingstoke as a place to set up, due to the great business opportunities our town provides. I am glad to see the Council doing even more to support these businesses, and in particular encouraging them to take on new apprenticeship places. This is vital to getting more young people into work and providing training to help them onto a career path.
The Borough Council are giving grants of £5,000 to SMEs for the creation of new apprenticeship opportunities, and businesses who take on a new apprentice or increase the number of existing staff undertaking apprenticeships will be able to apply for up to three grants to cover the costs of recruiting and retaining apprentices. I would encourage all SMEs looking to hire as we recover from the pandemic to take up this offer of support.”
Grants will be awarded on a first come first served basis and all applications must be received by Friday 18 March 2022.
