Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, called in the Willis Museum in Market Place to see the Trench Coat exhibition. The exhibition tells the story of the coat that has evolved from the First World War military trench coat to the modern styles now seen on the catwalk.
Maria said: “It is really fascinating to see how the original trench coat, made by Thomas Burberry here in Basingstoke, has evolved over the years and is recognised as an iconic British style all over the world. It was particularly interesting to see the World War One cavalry trench coat, as we continue to mark the centenary of WW1”.
