Maria Miller MP visited the newly expanded premises at the Jobcentre focussed on finding employment for 18-24 year olds.
Maria commented; “It was great to meet with Jamie Buchanan, Customer Service Leader for the M3 Corridor and the team of work coaches for an update on latest developments and to see the new premises adjacent to the existing Job Centre. The new centre is focused on helping everyone looking for work, with a particular focus on 18-24 year olds with “ Kickstart” employers.”
“Jamie and the Jobcentre staff have worked tirelessly during the pandemic to support jobseekers and new applicants to Universal Credit. I am delighted to hear that organisations are coming forward to offer opportunities through the Kickstart programme and that staff are focussed on working with more and more employers who want to sign up to the scheme.
It is clear that the pandemic has had a real effect on employment and the Jobcentre has expanded its team of work coaches to provide even more face to face support. It was very encouraging to see that a significant number of job seekers are now finding work and things are starting to move in the right direction.”
Maria added “ The Job centre are also helping with retraining opportunities and the Restart programme. We are very lucky to have such good support here in Basingstoke from JCP for both for those seeking work and Employers seeking to recruit. It is good to hear more and more employers are considering the Kickstart Programme as a great way of recruiting young people and providing them with invaluable experience and opportunities.”
